CURRENT COMMUNITY PARTNERS

The Junior League of Greater New Haven partners with nonprofit organizations in the surrounding communities through the Done in a Day (DIAD) program. Utilizing the DIAD model, we are able to support local organizations and programs each year that are already making a positive impact on our community and align with the League’s mission. For each DIAD project, League members collaborate with local organizations or social service agencies through hands-on volunteer work. These projects provide positive, engaging volunteer opportunities for our members to give back to the New Haven area, while increasing awareness of the unique needs of our community.

New Haven Reads

The JLGNH has partnered with New Haven Reads for the past few years collecting books for their Book Bank, a unique resource that is neither a library nor a bookstore. Rather, all of the books provided are free to members of the community in need.

Mission: Founded to share the joy and power of reading, New Haven Reads partners with the community to provide free 1-on-1 tutoring, educational family support, and a book bank to empower aspiring readers to master the literacy skills needed to thrive in school and life.

save the sound

The JLGNH has partnered with Save The Sound by participating in one of their many beach clean ups throughout the year. The League sends volunteers to help clean our local beaches & keep trash away from wildlife and out of the waters where you fish and swim.

Mission: To protect and improve the land, air, and water of Connecticut and Long Island Sound. We use legal and scientific expertise and bring people together to achieve results that benefit our environment for current and future generations.
