  Join us for a special DIAD (Done in a Day) Dinner Service at Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen! A long-standing League volunteer tradition is back!

  Join us on Monday, January 27th at 4:30pm.

  Volunteers assist staff with serving to-go dinners. To-go dinner includes ready to eat and portable meal items for a household of 1 or more individuals. Dinner is served OUTSIDE, so please dress for the elements.

  Volunteers meet Allie, our Volunteer Coordinator, at Trinity Church on the Green - Corner of Temple & Chapel Streets for check-in. Together, we wait for and meet the DESK van to arrive shortly full of to-go Dinners and serving equipment. Together with more DESK staff, we set up tables, meals, and other equipment and serve our guests from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. • DIAD- Hamden Mobile Food Pantry

  LOCATION: 306 Circular Ave. Hamden (parking lot across Sapori).

  PARKING: Volunteers are asked to park in the spots directly to the left after pulling into the parking lot.

  TIME: We ask that volunteers be on time for the pantry (4:15 PM). Once you arrive, we will host a quick orientation and sign-in. After the orientation has ended, we will set up and begin to distribute food.

  ATTIRE: Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes! 

  DETAILS: When you arrive for your shift, staff will direct you to the designated volunteer area. After all volunteers have arrived, we will do a brief orientation about this event and what to expect as a volunteer. Once the orientation is over, we will start to set up and begin bagging.  

  Volunteer roles and responsibilities:

  • Be able to lift boxes weighing at least 25-30 pounds repeatedly
  • Set-up tables
  • Serve the community without any biases or discrimination
  • Break down boxes
  • Pick up trash around the truck area
